2024 Undergraduate Paper Series

Dear readers,

Thank you for your constant support for the UPS. We are happy to announce our third number of the series is out now!

Building on the success of previous editions, UPS 2024 features three outstanding student papers that explore a diverse range of international relations topics. This publication is the result of the dedicated efforts of student authors, faculty mentors, and the TIU IRSA student editorial board.

The authors and papers that are featured in this year’s issue are:

  1. One Piece, Authoritarianism, and the Pluralism of Justice, by Val Nishwa Wedenayake, from Political Theory (Professor Nathan Munier)
  2. European Energy Exchange Market and the Norwegian Perspective, by Michal Aamaas Aurstad, from International Integration (Prof. Kim Joonho)
  3. How has Venezuela justified its referendum to annex the Essequibo region without addressing the rights of self-determination of the Essequibo people? – by Evan Ronny Hotasi, from Humans Right (Professor Christopher Lamont)

This issue also includes a special section honoring Professor Akitoshi Miyashita, our late Academic Advisor. The section is part of our tributary project, where we gather letters from Professor’s students, colleagues, and loved ones,  and preserve them on our website. We hope that through this project, his legacy lives on and continues to inspire generations of students.

We extend our congratulations to the featured authors. We believe readers will find inspiration to deepen their knowledge and refine their writing through these papers, just like we do!

Sincerely,

Undergraduate Paper Series Editorial Board
